Consumers

Florida Housing believes that an adequate supply of affordable housing is the foundation of healthy communities. Living in decent housing provides a safe environment and an opportunity for people to hold jobs, succeed in school and contribute to their communities. To find housing opportunities, people with special housing needs or their service providers have several resources available to them within Florida Housing Finance Corporation.

Local Government Assistance – State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP)

Depending on your income, you could be eligible for home repair or replacement, down payment assistance, rental housing assistance and other affordable housing assistance.  To find out if you qualify, contact the local SHIP administrator in your county.

Rental Housing and Assistance

Search for an apartment with FloridaHousingSearch.org

In its on-going efforts to respond to housing needs, Florida Housing has developed an easy-to-use searchable website of available affordable rental units throughout the state. Currently, Florida Housing-funded developments may be found in most counties. There is no cost for searching the website, or to owners to list their properties.

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)
Find your own place and use the voucher to pay for all or part of the rent. To check whether vouchers are available in your area, use the above link to contact a public housing agency.

Florida Housing’s First Time Homebuyer Program offers 30-and 40-year fixed interest rate mortgage loans to first-time homebuyers through its network of participating lenders.
